In an unprecedented and radical way Tweeting bypasses the customary safeguards for the the review of presidential statements by White House staff.  There is a real question whether any president should use this method of communication.  In President Trump’s case his unpredictability and impulsiveness exposes us to imminent danger from his tweets. The revelation that President Trump had to be restrained from sending a Tweet regarding the evacuation of American civilians from South Korea makes this all too clear. The best solution may well be legislation which makes Twitter an impermissible method of communication to the general public for all senior administration officials until methods of review are established. The danger is too immediate to wait for this to happen. We urgently request that President Trump be banned from Twitter.
