Petition updateTVA Retirees Forced to Buy High-Priced Medicare PlansDid You Buy Cigna or Mutual of Omaha Plan G Through Via? Uh. Oh.

If you bought a Medigap Plan F through Via from Aetna or Mutual of Omaha back in 2017, you may be in for a shock.  Those plans had extremely high rates compared to other plans you could have bought in your area.

For example, a 71 year old female could have bought Medigap Plan G directly from Mutual of Omaha for $162 per month, but Via's Mutual of Omaha Medigap Plan G cost $232/month - 43% higher rate.  Aetna's  direct rate was $144/ month but it was $183/month through Via - a 27% higher rate.

The word is out now that you can buy plans from local agents and some of you can leave Via's plans for lower cost plans from other insurers.  Make sure you do not give up any healthcare credits from TVA and make sure your under age 65 spouses do not lose anything.

Shop around and save some money.  After a couple of years you can buy a cruise (maybe a short one) with your savings!
