TV Broadcasting Companies such as ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and MTV make documentaries such as Benefits Street, On Benefits and Proud and The Valleys . The Standing up to Stigma campaign believes that these documentaries portray some communities in a very negative way. For example lazy, rude, work-shy and unhealthy.

The companies that make these documentaries which negatively label communities  should donate some of their profits to local councils and the government to spend on projects which will help to revitalise affected areas. This could be done through funding new apprenticeship schemes, youth projects and environmental projects.

If this petition is successful and TV companies agree to allocate some of their profits to local councils, those councils then need to implement new apprenticeship schemes, youth projects and environmental projects as well as other community schemes which will help the rejuvenation of their communities. This petition will be sent to TV Broadcasting companies like those mentioned above if it reaches the required number of signatures.
