Changing Dress code in TUSD

Changing Dress code in TUSD

The Issue

As a student that has been targeted due to the way my body is shaped the dress code is not only sexist but they target certain people. Female dress codes were made to objectify and sexualize women. Let’s come together and stop this. My shorts being to short in the summer, My bra strap showing in the summer, my cleavage showing in the summer, all of it objectifies women and teaches women that not only we are objectified, but a distraction to our male peers and staff. Dress code was made for all genders, but it is more associated towards women. The clothes I put on should not be sexualized. My shorts are NOT to short. My bra strap is NORMAL because I am a women in the heat, my cleavage is not my control, my stomach is NOT a distraction and my body should not be sexualized. I was dress coded because half an inch of my stomach was showing the administration said it could be distracting to others and we should be worried about our education more then our wardrobe, yet again when we get dress coded they are taking time out of our day to “change” into something more appropriate. The boys and girls see worse things everyday when they open any social media, I promise an half inch of my stomach is not distracting.  When you interrupt a girls school day, to tell her to put a jacket on or to change her clothes it shows you care more about a “distraction free” environment more then our education. Teach boys not to treat women like sexual objects instead of shaming girls for there body.
