Turnitin has recently announced that they will be training an AI model using work handed in via the platform. This is massively invasive.

In academia, plagiarism is such an issue, and the fact that universities are allowing their students' work to go to a cause like this is shocking.

Not to mention PhD students whose potentially groundbreaking work, based on hours of intensive labor, is going into some corporate shenanigans.

The fact that universities are forcing students to choose between failing assignments and submitting their work via a platform that exploits it is vile.

We demand that Turnitin halt this programme and that universities stop using the platform until it does.
