Turn North Carolina into a No-Kill State for Pets

Turn North Carolina into a No-Kill State for Pets
The Issue

I and countless others in North Carolina are horrified at the alarmingly high rate of euthanasia of our beloved pets in our state - dogs and cats who ask for nothing more than a loving home. Our state ranks tragically second or third in the United States for this practice, largely due to the lack of space in overflowing shelters. Our hearts break for the many animals rescued from horrific dog fighting rings, only to be put down due to the shortage of resources. 14,500 dogs/cats were euthanized in 2022.
Pet overpopulation is a significant issue! People need to spay and neuter their pets. Many animals are being dumped mercilessly on the sides of roads. This is an acute animal welfare crisis that demands our immediate attention and action. Educating, volunteering, donating, fostering or adopting are all ways to be involved.
We firmly believe that change is not only necessary, but urgently so. We call on our local officials, veterinarians, shelters, animal agencies, and the general public to work together to end this barbaric practice. We demand the implementation of responsible pet ownership education, increase in accessible spay and neuter programs, and support for no-kill initiatives.
We need to adjust our mindset, policies, and practices to cherish, love, and protect these animals, rather than disposing of them.
Help make North Carolina a beacon of hope for animals by becoming the next No-Kill State in the United States. Sign the petition. Your signature can give countless pets a second chance at life that they so rightly deserve.
