Turn Minga back into FiveStar (or whatever your platform was called) in WPUSD schools
The Issue
Minga was introduced to Western Placer Unified School District (WPUSD) schools as a new student hallpass management with the promise of enhancing the experience. However, it has proven to be more of a hindrance than a help. This petition highlights the need to revert back to the FiveStar (or your previous platform) system, which was more user-friendly and accessible to students and parents.
From personal experience as a student in the WPUSD, Minga has made the process of navigating school resources confusing and frustrating. In fact, many students weren't even informed properly about how to access or use the new system, leading to widespread discontent.
Unlike Minga, FiveStar (or your platform) was straightforward and effective in managing hallpasses and rewards (if your school did them). Its interface was easy to understand, which reduced the learning curve and let us focus on what truly matters: our education. Minga, on the other hand, adds unnecessary complexity into our daily school lives, detracting from learning and causing much annoyance.
Research reveals that the average adaptation to a new digital system takes approximately 3 to 6 months, during which users experience decreased productivity and increased frustration—a stark contrast to the seamless system we were accustomed to. While change can sometimes be beneficial, it's imperative that it adds value and not confusion.
We urge WPUSD administrators to prioritize students' needs over experimental technology that isn't delivering on its promises. It's time to evaluate what works best for our community and ensure seamless operations that support educational goals rather than hinder them.
Please sign this petition to bring back the FiveStar system, restore clarity in our daily school operations, and make sure WPUSD remains a nurturing educational environment.
