The environmental impact report on the canal, a key step to such massive infrastructure projects , does not adequately address the catastrophes the canal would cause.

First and foremost, 23,000,000 (MILLION) m2 of green space will be lost

The water supply that 20,000,000 Istanbul inhabitants depend upon will cease to exist. The remaining water will other mix with saltwater or completely dry out.

-Archaeological sites along the way will be lost

-Causing more structural damage and liveslost due to erosion and earthquakes

-More taxes for citizens, and less budget for the city

-This will violate the Montreux convention

ALL THIS AND MORE WILL HAVE TERRIBLE CONSEQUENCES IN IMPACTING CLIMATE CHANGE NOT ONLY IN THE REGION BUT ALL OVER OUR PLANET!
