Tulane University needs take advantage of the opportunity it has to build the new residence hall on Zimple Quad with solar water heating capability. This opportunity has been ignored due to financial constraints, but the students, staff and faculty need to demand that this option be fairly considered because solar water heating greatly reduces carbon emissions and, therefore, is an environmentally and socially responsible choice. The long term benefits to the environment should not be ignored to lessen the initial cost of construction of the Zimple Residence Hall.
