Provide a place near the screening area that people can mail off their items that are not acceptable to TSA on flights.

The Issue

Many things are being confiscated and either people forget they have them or just plain don't know that it's not going to be acceptable. Instead of the TSA being burdened to sell these items, it makes more sense to provide an area of FedEx or the Post Office or UPS that will allow people to mail off their treasured items.

This has happened to me at least twice. Once in the bottom of my purse I had forgotten I carried a small knife that was given from my Dad. I played with it as a child. It was no larger than my little finger and the knife part probably wouldn't have cut anything, but they took it. Then the last time, my husband and I had purchased a snowglobe for our 6 year old granddaughter. Because it was a little bigger than a baseball, they took it. It cost 35.00 and they took it because they couldn't test the water! It made NO sense that they would have let me keep it if it was the size of a baseball! I suppose the water in those is not dangerous!

Anyway, it's not very good customer service, not to give people a way to keep their belongings! I don't think they mean to be mean. The ones who got my snowglobe were just following orders and seemed to be as upset as I was. I don't think they wanted to do it, but had to.
