Livestock, mainly cattle, is a major factor hurting the environment. It hurts the land, water, and air. So much land is lost making room for cows and livestock. When there is a ton of livestock on one piece of land the totally destroy it and the crops that possibly could grow. Then erosion follows, quickly destroying the land.Livestock causes wide-scale land degradation. Also about 20 percent of pastures considered as degraded caused by overgrazing, compaction and erosion. It also causes habitat loss for thousands of animals. For example, if people drain wetlands for livestock, frogs and other wetland species lose their homes and that could kill them, and the wetlands are home to 1/3 of the endangered species in the U.S. Also in South America 2/3 of land clearance is due to habitats for livestock. They also burn down forests for them.  their manure releases harmful chemicals in the environment. For a better environment we need to limit the number of cattle farms in the us
