Judge Halts Deportations, Families Remain Separated

Define American
Jul 17, 2018
According to NBCNews, the government’s flowchart reunification plan, released on Sunday, shows that the government has created a situation where "many parents have had to choose between deportation with their children or leaving their child in the U.S. with hopes that they would win their asylum case.” “On Monday, the federal judge overseeing the U.S. government's efforts to reunify more than 2,500 migrant children it separated from their parents ordered a temporary hold on deportations for reunified families.” This decision comes at a critical time before to the July 26th reunification deadline. We had previously seen that the government was forcing parents to self-deport in order to be reunited with their children making reunification impossible. Now, the government must reunite 2,480 children by July 26th and can currently only reunite 918 children. This is unacceptable! The government must #ReuniteEveryChild. Therefore, please join Define American in delivering now over 130K signatures, on July 19th at 2pm, to Scott Lloyd, director of ORR at HHS in DC, demanding that he and this administration to #ReuniteEveryChild with no more games. If you can’t make it you can join us LIVE on our Define American Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/events/227489744540535/
