We Brought Over 160k Petition Signatures to HHS; They Turned Us Away

On July 19th Define American, MomsRising, and Change.org came together to deliver over 160k petition signatures to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) demanding they #ReuniteEveryChild. We also brought over 100 teddy bears with us, requesting they give them to the separated children as a small step in the healing process. One courageous mother with her daughter shared to HHS staff “Every single day that those children are separated from their families is one more day that they are traumatized and one more day that they think that people don’t care about them.” Another mother expressed her frustration that Office of Refugee Resettlement Director Scott Lloyd refused to meet with us and continues to give excuses. “It is our right as Americans to meet with officials of our government and have our voices heard,” she expressed. We will not stop in obtaining signatures and reaching out to HHS demanding that they accept our signatures; and we hope that you won’t either.
