Trump: Donate 30,000 Eggs Purchased for the White House's Easter to Food Banks
The Issue
The Trump White House plans to use 30,000 real eggs for the annual Easter Egg Roll — despite the limited supply of eggs, rising grocery costs and food insecurity affecting millions of Americans.
On April 12 over 30,000 eggs will be used by White House guests for decoration and games, according to the American Egg Board.
Meanwhile food banks are struggling and families are unable to afford basic necessities. Wasting 30,000 eggs on a symbolic event is simply unacceptable!
Instead of using real eggs for an extravagant display, the White House should donate them to food banks and families in need.
As hunger and poverty in the US grow, Trump already halts $500 million in deliveries to food banks helping those in need. In 2024, some 47 million people across the U.S. experienced hunger, and that number has been rising.
"They were saying that for Easter ‘please don’t use eggs. Could you use plastic eggs?’ I say we don’t want to do that," President Trump said Wednesday.
We call on Trump and event organizers to rethink their decision. There are plenty of sustainable, reusable alternatives for the event that won’t waste valuable food.
DONATE THE EGGS!
At a time when so many are struggling, leaders should set an example of compassion—not waste. Sign this petition to demand that the 30,000 eggs be donated.
