I'm starting this petition on behalf of all of the truckers that literally keep the world going. I feel like the world doesn't appreciate our truckers enough and all of the stuff they have to go through from picking up their load, loading, strapping, chaining, tarping, bungee strapping etc. Then coming to truckstops where they have to pay an arm and a leg for everything. nothing is free for our truckers. After being on the road for hours on end after loading up and securing the load, they finally stop for the night. They spend hundreds of dollars on fuel. go to a regular gas station down the street, diesel is 2.75 pilot right down the street (for example) has diesel for 3.21, and to even get a free shower you have to purchase at least 50 gallons of diesel at their jacked up prices. truckstops are making millions off of truckers around the world. Reserved parking spots pricing almost $20 to park a TRUCK for ONE night! There is a HUGE shortage on parking for truckers, and that's a well known fact. so to get a reserved spot every night for a month is running truckers about 600. no room, no pillows, blankets, and not even a free shower. showers are running truckers $13-15 a night, so a shower everyday for a month is running them around 360 dollars. that's a car note! paying up to $4.00 to wash laundry, WASH only. drying is another $3-4! these truck stops are making millions off of them from fuel, food, laundry, showers, and reserved spots, not to mention when they are getting their trucks serviced in the shop they are paying hundreds of dollars. (how many of you didn't know that if your truck is in the shop at the TA they are supposed to give you a complimentary shower?? they don't even tell you that most of the time!) truckers can decline a $14 shower, but they HAVE to get fuel. they may be able to go a day or two without showering but they canNOT go without gas, so truckstops are getting that money from them regardless. I feel like truckers should at least get free showers for all of the work they do and the things they endure while doing their job. and if they can't get FREE showers, I feel like they at least deserve heavily discounted showers. they already have to wait hours for the showers to open up, and have to PAY to wait. Can we please take some stress off of our truckers? that is the least we can do for them.
