Save The Penmon Lighthouse Bell (Trwyn Du Lighthouse Bell)

The Issue

Trwyn Du Lighthouse at Penmon Point was built in 1838. Since 1922, Its beautiful bell has tolled every 30 seconds to warn seafarers of the perilous coastline. The bells chime adds to the magical sea symphony at Penmon and many supporters believe that the area won’t be the same without it.

Trinity house believe that the current warning bell is no longer reliable and are looking to replace the bell with a hazard warning system similar to a foghorn, which will only sound during foggy conditions. We appreciate that the safety of seafarers is of upmost importance and hope that perhaps the new HWS can be used in conjunction with the historic bell.

We would like the bell at Trwyn Du Lighthouse to remain in situ and continue to be operational as it has been for the last 97 years.
