Over my time at trinity I’ve heard cotton eyed Joe to many times. Over the summer of 2020 I found out of it’s disgusting and disgraceful meaning.  The song is about slavery in America. I’ve informed the trinity staff about this but still it’s being played and people dance to it even though other’s have stated it “not being okay”and “a bad song.” So while the majority white students dance to it the BIPOC students stand awkwardly and uncomfortably. We need to get our school to stop this. It’s unjust, unfair, and wrong.  People have tried to express how they rather it not be played so it is a problem that needs to be dealt with.
