Why this petition matters

Started by Charlotte Burns

My name is Charlotte Burns, and I am a student at Trinity CofE High School. As a queer student myself, I have seen homophobic and transphobic language continually used by students inside and outside of the classroom, which I believe will have a direct impact on how safe LGBTQ+ students feel at school. So I propose that at school we create an LGBTQ+ safe space for queer students and ally’s alike to share thoughts, discuss topics that affect us and all together hopefully create a space where we feel safe. I, and many other students were saddened to see the lack of acknowledgment of Pride Month at school. While I understand the limitations we are under as a school, I really believe that creating a space (or club) like this will really diversify the student body and make ALL students feel loved and accepted while they are at school.
