Many of my peers and I went through the Upward Bound program at Tri- County Technical College in Pendleton, SC. I am starting this petition because after this summer the Trio program will no longer be available to students. The program helped us to succeed and thrive in high school, and encourages us to further our education. Trio helps students with school work, funding for SAT and ACT, college searches, and many other things that can be named. The program also helps us to become better people in the community by having us volunteer at various places. They help us realize that we are much more than a statistic, and that we can be as great as our minds can imagine. We need Trio programs in Anderson County and surrounding counties to help this generation and many other generations of students to learn leadership roles and many other skills. With a little effort we can get the program back and capture more students that really need the help. Without this program many students may not be able to flourish in academics like my peers and I have. #TrioWorks, so please help bring our program back.
