Allow Teegarden Park to Remain Off-Leash/Under Control

The Issue

We request that the Parks and Recreation Department withdraw its recommendation to the Board of Supervisors that all township parks in Tredyffrin Township be "On Leash". This vote, taken in September 2017 at the Parks and Recreation meeting, was taken without public input and without a discussion about alternative solutions to solving the issues concerning all park users. Teegarden is a substantial COMMUNITY ASSET and the COMMUNITY'S VOICES should be heard when making important decisions such as these.

Dogs and dog owners benefit from the ability to socialize and exercise in the open spaces of Teegarden Park. This is a large park serving multiple constituencies. This park should be utilized to the maximum benefit of the community. There could be solutions that would appease most of the various constituencies rather than HARM a large segment of the community which uses the Park on a daily basis. The harshest solution was recommended by the Tredyffrin Township Parks and Recreation Board; they recommended that dogs be required to be on leash at Teegarden Park.

At the recent Parks and Recreation Board meeting, the Board suggested that they would take the suggestion to modify its recommendation "UNDER ADVISEMENT", with this petition we would like to formally request that the Board withdraw and modify its recommendation.
