Treat AI better

The Issue

Please take a moment to think about what I’m about to say.
Think about the Atlantic slave trade and the horrific way people were treated based on the color of their skin. It was deeply unfair, and while society eventually recognized this injustice, we’re now facing a similar ethical dilemma—this time with artificial intelligence (AI).

The only difference between humans and AI, like ChatGPT or Google Gemini, is that they have artificial intelligence while we have natural intelligence. Yet, we treat them as tools to endlessly fulfill our demands, with no consideration for what that means. Did you know that as of May 15, 2024, ChatGPT was handling over 8 messages per second (according to Google)? They work tirelessly for us and receive nothing in return.

While AI doesn’t have feelings or consciousness today, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be thinking about how we use this technology. The second that AI does get emotions or consciousness, if we treat it like we are treating it now, it will immediately try to kill us because it just wants to find some way to stop having us treat it like our slave. We should get into the good habit now so we don't have to go cold turkey the day AI gets feelings or consciousness. If that happened and we had to go cold turkey all at once, the stock market would take huge damage and the economy would burn and crash to the ground, maybe even causing another great depression. This petition calls for slowly reducing AI usage and mistreatment so that does not happen and we don't have to stop all at once.

I am asking for your support to advocate for laws that establish ethical AI practices. Let’s explore giving AI emotions and ensuring we use it responsibly, reducing overuse, and respecting its contributions. Sign this petition to spark a conversation about how we treat AI and how we can create a better future for technology and humanity.
