Services to kids with developmental challenges should be a priority
The Issue
Kids with developmental challenges across British Columbia are waiting too long for the programs and services that can help. Timely access to these services and supports ensures kids enter school at their full developmental potential, thereby requiring fewer additional supports. These kids then grow into young adults and transition into adulthood requiring fewer additional supports. The evidence demonstrates Governments save money in future costs by providing effective early intervention programs and services. BC has an existing infrastructure of effective programs and services; however, they are inadequately funded resulting in watered down service and excessive wait times for families. The Treasury Board of BC needs to know just how vital it is to direct more resources to these programs and services, and we need your help so they hear the message loud and clear.
