The Issue

Kristin Lindsey, a veterinarian in Austin County, TX, recently posted a photo of herself, on social media, holding a dead cat by an arrow that is plunged into his head.   Ms. Lindsey comments about the photo were “My first bow kill lol.  The only good feral tomcat is one with an arrow through it’s head!  Vet of  the year award…gladly accepted”.

Torturing and killing a cat are against the law in Texas.   Sec. 42.092 of the Texas Penal Code states that:

(b)  A person commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly:

(1)  tortures an animal or in a cruel manner kills or causes serious bodily injury to an animal;

(2)  without the owner's effective consent, kills, administers poison to, or causes serious bodily injury to an animal;

(3)  fails unreasonably to provide necessary food, water, care, or shelter for an animal in the person's custody;

(4)  abandons unreasonably an animal in the person's custody;

(5)  transports or confines an animal in a cruel manner;

(6)  without the owner's effective consent, causes bodily injury to an animal;

I believe she has violated 42.092 (b)(1), (b)(2) and (b)(6) which are misdemeanor and felony offenses.

I ask that the District Attorney’s office investigate this matter thoroughly, and file criminal charges against Kristen Lindsey for violating the Texas Penal Code by cruelly shooting the cat through the head with an arrow.

Such a heinous and cruel crime should not go unpunished.

Please enforce the anti-cruelty laws in Texas.

Thank you
