Aug 13, 2020 — Hello everyone! This is Ashley! I wanted to share that I have officially closed the petition to incorporate BIPOC history and culture as well as anti-racism education into all TCAPS schools. These past few weeks, I have spoken with Superintendent VanWagoner, Associate Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction Biller, and the TCAPS Librarians and they have informed me of their plans to make TCAPS an anti-racist, anti-bias institution. I have also spoken with the Traverse City Human Rights Commission and will speak with TC Veterans for Peace about this petition and movement. It is so encouraging to know the City and TCAPS are supportive of these much-needed changes. We should see a public statement from TCAPS in the coming weeks detailing their timeline and action plan. Thank you again to everyone who signed and emailed. Together we helped make these changes!
