Travel insurance companies like Allianz Global Assistance do not offer insurance for individuals that have mental illness.  They stated in their letter to me "People who suffer directly or indirectly from any mental or nervous health disorders (like anxiety, depression, neurosis, psychosis and others) or any related physical complications that affect you are not covered".  

This is an absolute discrimination to the "1 in 5" adults in the U.S. who experience a mental illness in a given year. Approximately 1 in 25 will experience a serious mental illness that will interfere will major life activities (NAMI).  

We cannot allow corporations to continue to treat people as less than human. They would not be allowed to deny someone coverage for having Cancer, COPD, Multiple Sclerosis, or ALS, so why are they allowed to treat patients with mental illness as inferiors? 

Please sign this petition to stop all travel insurance companies, specifically Allianz Global Assistance from discriminating against mental illness.
