Incarceration Without Conviction – Demand Accountability Now


Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland father with no criminal record, was wrongfully deported to El Salvador by the Trump administration despite court orders protecting him. He is now being held in one of the world’s most dangerous prisons, CECOT, without charges, due process, or any plan to bring him home. The U.S. government is openly defying a unanimous Supreme Court ruling that demanded they "facilitate" his return.

Hundreds of innocent men—some with no charges—were secretly deported to El Salvador and locked in a mega-prison without trial. This isn’t immigration policy. It’s state-sponsored disappearance. We must act now to bring them home and stop more deportations.

“Trump administration officials have described the men deported to El Salvador prisons last month as “the worst of the worst,” suggesting they were gang members involved in murder, rape and kidnapping.” (Bloomberg 2025)

“The reality is that of 238 migrants — mostly Venezuelan — that officials accused of belonging to the Tren de Aragua gang and expelled to the Central American country in mid-March, just a small fraction had ever been charged with serious crimes in the US.” (Bloomberg 2025)

Hundreds of pages of US legal records and American government statements reviewed by Bloomberg News found five men charged with or convicted of felony assault or firearms violations. Three men were charged with misdemeanors including harassment and petty theft. Two others were charged with human smuggling. (Bloomberg 2025)

Many were in the middle of legal proceedings or seeking asylum. Now they’re imprisoned at CECOT, a mega-prison in El Salvador notorious for abuse, torture, and indefinite detention.

Families have had no contact. There is no legal representation. No justice. Only silence. If this continues, innocent people will remain disappeared, held in a foreign country for a crime they never committed. They sent them out in secret without notifying them or family members they were being sent there or accused of being involved in crimes. 

It sets a dangerous precedent: that the U.S. can erase people based on nationality and fear—not facts. It tells the public that immigration law can be weaponized. And it sends a global message that some lives are disposable, as long as there’s political gain in it.

The Supreme Court just ruled that these deportations can continue under the Alien Enemies Act—as long as “notice” was given. That means this is not over. Deportations may resume. More people may disappear.

Now is the moment to act—to stop future removals, to demand transparency, and to bring these men home. They came looking for a better life and ended up living a nightmare.

Silence is complicity. We won’t stay silent.

We demand:


1. Full transparency release the names and locations of every deportee held in El Salvador. 

2. Legal access and family contact for the detained. 

 3. An immediate halt to all deportations under the Alien Enemies Act.



 4. A safe pathway home for those wrongfully deported.

 5. A full, independent investigation into the U.S. and El Salvador’s joint role in these forced disappearances.

Just because it’s legal doesn’t mean it’s right. Laws have been used to justify injustice before—slavery, internment, family separation. Today, that law is the Alien Enemies Act. We refuse to let our government disappear people in silence.

We are calling on the Trump administration, including the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), to take immediate responsibility for the wrongful deportation of Venezuelan migrants to El Salvador—many of whom are now imprisoned without trial, legal access, or contact with their families.
