Support street renaming for Harlem rapper Big - L

The Issue

We as an Community are looking to rename our street, 140th street and Lenox Avenue for one of Harlem's fallen bright stars. The person that we'd like to Honor goes by the name of Lamont "Big L" Coleman. Lamont was born and raised here in Harlem. His Family migrated here to Harlem from Georgia in the late 60's and they've been Life Long Harlemites every since. Lamont became a lover of music as a young child, thanks to his Mother and Older siblings exposing him to good soul music early in his young Life.

Lamont in his latter formative years became a Professional recording artist, Lamont being introduced to fellow musician Lord Finesse, he helped guide him with his music career. With Finesse's help, Lamont was able to sign to Columbia Records as he was preparing to graduate from High School. Lamont was able to create an chart topping album entitled "Life styles of the Poor and Dangerous". He eventually recorded music with Hip Hop Greats such as Jay Z, Cam'ron, Mase, Fat Joe and his Life long friend Herb Mcgruff and countless others. Lamont was able to tour the world many times over and over were he performed his many songs for thousands of adoring fans.

Lamont's star was unfortunately extinguished and his career was cut short at the tender age of 24. His indelible mark will forever be echoed in the halls of Hip Hop and in the hearts of music fans world wide.

We'd like for all of the many Big L Supporters to help us by signing our block renaming petition. We'll be presenting this petition to Harlem's Community Board 10.  Our many signatures will be helpful in the process of the street renaming on 140th street and Lenox avenue to Lamont "Big L" Coleman Way.

Thank you for your signature and help with our cause.
