We want TFL to stop overcharging customers on technicalities and stop the extortion

During the last year, Tfl have changed many of the ways customers are charged but instead of improving, there have been a change where customers are automatically penalised and have to call for refunds, sometimes talking to unprofessional customer service attendants.
There is a section on the Tfl website called single fare finder which aim to calculate the amount payable for a Journey. However, Tfl have included in the terms that customers can be charged zone 1 fare even when they don't travel through zone 1. Using this tool, Tfl dictates for customers the route they will take which is usually longer and discourages customers from saving money. If customers manage to navigate a quicker journey, they are still overcharged. This is exploitative and wrong, especially at a time when many are struggling financially and most don't have the time to sit on a phone for refund.
Tfl have a duty to respect the zone boundaries that is on the tube map and stop overcharging us for willingly avoiding zone 1.
Tfl have also stopped automatic refund when you touch in the same station within a few minutes which is again wrong.
There have been an increase in the level of overcharging in recent times and that is unacceptable. Will Tfl compensate us for the time wasted on the phone seeking a refund?
We pay some of the most expensive transport fares in Europe yet the system is set to extort customers at any given opportunity. If a privately owned company operates the same wasy Tfl does, there would have been widespread condemnation and sanctions.
Tfl must do better!
