I am calling for The Department of Transport and TfL to bring forward the reopening of Night Tube and London Overground Night Services to November 2021.

Earlier this year, a spokesperson for TfL issued a statement claiming “frankly there isn’t the demand” for the Night Tube. We’ve heard absolutely nothing from them since regarding a start-date only “definitely not before 2022” and the service is still suspended.

The night tube NEEDS TO RETURN ASAP. It could save lives and will undoubtedly make millions of us safer.

The absolutely heartbreaking deaths of Londoners Sarah Everard and Sabina Nessa have shone a light on how unsafe we are in this city, and despite our efforts to “stay safe”, it’s never enough.

These cases are only two of hundreds that happen every single year in London. It sickens me that so many innocent lives have to be taken just in order for people to listen as we scream “London is dangerous for women!!!”, yet nothing is actually being done to help us.

“Be safe” does nothing, neither does victim-blaming or telling us to FLAG DOWN A BUS?! What will make a difference is sorting out actual transportation methods for women.

There is an urgent need for the Night Tube right now. How many more?
