I would like to propose to TfL the brand new 24-hour single-decker bus Route 426 to operate from Eltham to Streatham via Mottingham, Grove Park, Downham, Southend, Bell Green, Sydenham, Crystal Palace and Upper Norwood. It links Eltham to South-West London and increases capacity in Grove Park, reducing journey times compared to Route 124 and 126, and provides a second bus route to Eltham that serves Crystal Palace, mitigating the issue of overcrowding on Route 122. Route 426 will also be able to bring extra capacity to the brand new Grove Place housing development in Court Road. Route 426 provides the fastest service to Streatham Station by using the roads that Route 417 uses and then diverts to follow Route 249, creating a straight and direct route.

Many people have to take the train to get to South-West London, which means people have to get to New Cross and get the Southern, which would take less time however would be more expensive whereas with a bus, it would cost less than £10 with the hopper fare.

The route will operate by going to Grove Park by going through Court Road, where it diverts to serve Grove Park Road (bringing a local bus to an unserved road as well as direct local bus service to Eltham College if Route 638 isn’t available or running) and then to Chinbrook Road.

Once reaching Grove Park, Route 426 goes through Downham Way however then diverts to Northover. Route 426 then goes through Whitefoot Lane (bringing a bus that serves the full extent of the road) and then parallels Route 181 from Southend Lane until Lower Sydenham. Route 426 then goes to Crystal Palace via Sydenham Road and Westwood Hill. Route 426 then continues to Streatham via Church Road, Westow Street, Central Hill, Crown Dale, Crown Lane, Streatham Common North and Streatham High Road.

I would also like to propose that the new bus route uses 12m single-deck vehicles and runs at a 8 minute frequency during the day and a 20 minute frequency during the night.
