Why this petition matters
Oppose changes to bus stops outside St Thomas’ Hospital
Transport for London (TfL) is planning to change the layout of the road, cycle lanes, bus stops and crossings to the south of Westminster Bridge. These changes include plans to provide “floating” bus stops that would mean bus users would have to cross the cycle lane to reach the pavement. One of these stops will be outside St Thomas’ Hospital which includes the Evelina London Children’s Hospital.
Despite objections on safety grounds, these proposals have not been changed following a public consultation in 2015.
TfL has provided no evidence of:
• a robust analysis of the impact of this style of bus stop outside a hospital, or
• any consideration of an alternative scheme.
We have serious concerns about the risks TfL’s plans pose to the safety of vulnerable road users - patients, many of who may be elderly or disabled or parents with children in buggies, cyclists and pedestrians.
Join our campaign to persuade Transport for London to rethink its proposals for the provision of cycle lanes and bus stops on Westminster Bridge and to consult lawfully on any revised plans.
