Over 7,000 people have now supported the petition. This number is equivalent to over three quarters of the daily users of the station. The petition will be presented to the GLA at 9.30am on Wednesday December 16th at County Hall (between London Bridge and Tower Bridge on the South Bank). There will be an opportunity for the media to take photographs and ask questions. TfL has said it will compensate Oyster card users for the cost of bus journeys that they will have to make when the station is closed. They are not compensating passengers for the extra time wasted on longer journeys. At a conservative estimate this is over £6M for eight months disruption - far more than the cost of installing extra lifts and keeping the station open. Transport for London does not value the time of its users. It has lost the argument on Caledonian Road station refurbishment. Empty lift shafts are available and the station need not close. It is subjecting thousands of passengers to unnecessary inconvenience and delay. In future when there are proposals to close a facility for an extended period, there must be a requirement to factor in the wasted time of the people whose journeys might be disrupted. This can change the economic case for a proposal and would justify spending more money to prevent the disruption. Follow us on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/dontclosecallyroadtube/?ref=hl
