Hello everyone,

I am Osvaldo Olguin, defender of the rights of the LGBTQIAP+ community. On November 13, news filled us with indignation and deep sadness, as the body of Magistrate Jesús Ociel Baena and that of their partner were found lifeless. That is why I decided to create this petition to demand transparency and impartiality in the investigation of the case.

For context, the late Ociel Baena was the first non-binary person to hold a public position in the Electoral Court of Aguascalientes. With their activism for the rights of trans children, equal marriage and recognition of identity, they left a great legacy of inclusion and non-discrimination. That is why I raise my voice so that their case can be clarified, help us obtain truth and justice!

In the month of July, Ociel announced multiple attacks and death threats against them. Today, the first hypotheses of the Prosecutor's Office indicate that it was a homicide and suicide by their partner, despite the fact that the family rejects this version.

Mexico is the second country with the most hate crimes in Latin America, that is why as organized citizens, we demand that in these key moments, the following points are met in the investigation:

1. That the authorities take immediate measures to ensure that a thorough, transparent and impartial investigation is carried out into the unfortunate loss of the Magistrade and their partner.

2. That the Homologated Investigation Protocol be applied for crimes committed against the LGBTQIAP+ community and that the criteria of intersectionality and gender perspective be considered when analyzing this case.

3. That the Federal and Local authorities work together to clarify the situation and, if applicable, present the people involved to the authorities.

4. That the Prosecutor's Office communicate the results of the investigations in a clear, timely and transparent manner.

5. That in all communication coming from the Prosecutor's Office and authorities responsible for the investigation, the non-binary pronoun "elle" with which Ociel identified themself is respected.

Sign this petition in the hope that, through joint action, truth and justice will be obtained for Magistrade Ociel. Because we deserve to live in a Mexico where all people in the LGBTQIAP+ community live free of fear, discrimination and violence.
