The Issue

Totnes Pavilions is more than just a leisure centre. For years, it has been a cornerstone of our community—a place where children learn to swim, neighbours meet, and people of all ages prioritise their health and wellbeing. But our centre is at a crossroads.

Ongoing issues with hygiene, maintenance, and safety have left many of us disheartened.

Despite being offered a £1.5 million loan by South Hams District Council (SHDC) to fund desperately needed renovations, Fusion’s financial instability meant they declined the funding. This shocking decision has left Totnes Pavilions without the critical investment it urgently needs and highlights Fusion’s broader pattern of mismanagement.

The challenges are not new. They have been raised repeatedly over the years but have been met with deflection and inaction. As things stand, the community is losing trust in a facility that should be a beacon of health and connection.

Without urgent action, Totnes Pavilions risks falling further behind, leaving our community without a centre that truly serves its needs.

We believe in Totnes Pavilions’ potential. Its central location, swimming pool, and gymnasium make it an ideal candidate for redevelopment. With the right leadership and investment, it could once again become a hub for community health and wellbeing.

We are calling for:

  • A full review of Fusion’s contract and the exploration of alternative providers better equipped to manage the centre and deliver improvements.

  • Immediate action to address urgent issues such as professional cleaning services, safety inspections, and parking reform.

  • Collaboration between SHDC, TADPOOL, and the community to create a sustainable plan for the centre’s future, including unlocking funding for long-overdue renovations.

This campaign is about supporting Totnes Pavilions while pushing for the improvements it so desperately needs. By using the centre and showing how much it matters to us, we can demonstrate its importance and strengthen our campaign and call for investment.

This is not about blame—it’s about building a better future for Totnes Pavilions. Together, we can ensure this vital community resource is transformed into a facility we can all be proud of.

Please sign this petition to show your support for a brighter future for Totnes Pavilions. Let’s take the first step toward creating a centre that reflects the strength and spirit of our community.
