As a concerned citizen of Calgary, I have witnessed the increasing crime rate among our youth and the struggle to keep seniors active during winter months. I believe we can address these issues by repurposing two historic buildings - Historic Fire Hall 1 (HFH1) at 140 6 Ave. S.E., and North-West Travellers (NWT) at 515 1 St. S.E., into golf simulators that can be used by seniors, youth, and kids.

By installing golf simulators in these buildings, we not only preserve their historical significance but also create an opportunity for our seniors to continue playing golf over the winter months. It would provide an excellent platform for learning the game of golf and remaining active during off-seasons.

Moreover, schools could use some of these simulator bays during daytime hours to offer golf lessons as part of physical education programs. This initiative could be further enhanced by partnering with certified PGA teaching professionals who can provide expert guidance.

The use of technology will ensure safety while enabling availability around-the-clock. A subsidized cost structure could make this facility accessible even to those who cannot afford it otherwise.

This initiative is not just about promoting sports or preserving heritage; it's about creating a safe space where different generations can interact positively. Imagine senior citizens volunteering their time to teach kids basic golf etiquette! Such interactions could play a crucial role in reducing crime rates among youth by providing them constructive engagement opportunities.
