Transform 1984 Sikh Genocide Victims Widows' Colony into Nari Shakti Vihar

The Issue

Transform Widows Colony into Nari Shakti Vihar: A Call to Justice, Empowerment, and Progress - a Tribute to Families of 1984 Sikh Genocide Victims

For 40 years, Tilak Vihar Widows Colony has stood as a painful reminder of the horrors of the 1984 Sikh Genocide—a place where survivors were left to fend for themselves, abandoned by successive governments and leaders. Families torn apart by violence continue to live in poverty and neglect, their wounds ignored, their cries unheard.

Today, Global Middas Foundation, in alliance with Shiromani Akali Dal Global and National Lok Kalyan Party, is initiating a transformative mission. This is more than just a name change—it’s an impact-driven project aimed at rewriting the story of Tilak Vihar into one of hope, empowerment, and progress.

Why This Matters: The Five Pillars of Transformation

Healing Generations of Neglect

For decades, the families of 1984 victims have been marginalized, their voices silenced. Youth born into these families have grown up without direction, many succumbing to addiction and despair. This project will assuage their wounds, restoring dignity and hope to lives overshadowed by trauma.

Empowering Through the Phulkaari Project

At the heart of this mission is the Phulkaari Project, which will establish Centers of Excellence to equip youth and families with life-changing skills, including:

  1. Cooking and Bakery Training
  2. Tourism and Travel Management
  3. English-Speaking Courses
  4. Stitching and Entrepreneurship
  5. Yoga and Naturopathy

These centers will create entrepreneurs, self-sustaining families, and a vibrant, thriving community.

Rehabilitation and Prosperity

This initiative will rehabilitate victim families, offering them not just survival but a future of prosperity. By providing income-generating opportunities and life skills, we aim to break the cycle of poverty and bring progress to the community. We want the youth to find purpose, direction, and hope.

Beyond a Name Change: A New Era for Families and Society

Nari Shakti Vihar will stand as a beacon of strength, resilience, and community. This transformation will impact not just individual families but the larger society, creating stronger, self-reliant Sikh communities that thrive on the principles of equality, dignity, and empowerment.

Sarbat Da Bhala: Welfare for All

Guided by the Sikh principle of Sarbat Da Bhala (welfare for all), this project is a commitment to justice, compassion, and upliftment for every member of the Tilak Vihar community. Together, we can build a future where no family is left behind.
