For quite some time, our beloved Punch has been suffering at Ichikawa Zoo due to continuous and aggressive attacks by most of the monkeys in his current troop. Despite his attempts to settle in, he faces relentless rejection and hostility from the others, with only a few exceptions. The physical injuries along with the looming threat of psychological and emotional trauma cannot be overlooked.

We, as devoted admirers of Punch, have witnessed firsthand the distress and pain he endures. His quality of life is severely diminished in his current environment, and Ichikawa Zoo has unfortunately not taken any action to alleviate his situation. This is why we feel compelled to call upon Ichikawa Zoo to transfer Punch to a wild animal sanctuary. There, surrounded by the serenity and natural beauty, he will have the chance to join a new monkey troop where he could thrive.

Transferring Punch to a sanctuary offers him the opportunity to be reintegrated into a loving troop that will accept him as one of their own, ensuring his well-being and happiness. Wild animal sanctuaries are specially equipped with the resources to rehabilitate and relocate animals such as Punch, offering an enriched habitat that mimics their natural conditions and a supportive social group.

Our plea is also grounded in numerous expert studies that highlight the importance of social bonds and appropriate environmental settings for primates like Punch.
