TRAIN HORN- INDY QUIET ZONE 09-13-25- Petition Below

We, the undersigned residents and supporters of Indianapolis neighborhoods affected by excessive train horn noise, request that the City of Indianapolis and the Indiana Department of Transportation initiate the process to establish one or more Quiet Zones.

These Quiet Zones would eliminate the need for routine train horn use at crossings that meet Federal Railroad Administration safety standards by installing gates, medians, lights, and signage.

The constant horn noise—especially during overnight hours—has disrupted sleep, impacted mental health, and reduced quality of life for hundreds of families.

We believe a safer, quieter solution is possible and urge city leaders to begin evaluating affected crossings and securing funding for safety upgrades.
