Traffic Calming req'd ASAP: Castle Oaks Cross & Clarkway Drive Before a Child is Killed
The Issue

Our neighborhood is in an active, worsening state of crisis due to ongoing municipal and provincial road safety mismanagement and lack of law enforcement. For over 5 years, the Castle Oaks Crossing and Clarkway Drive community has continuously warned officials about extreme speeding, reckless driving, commercial vehicle overflow, and the lack of structural protection in our school zones.
Photo radar has clocked vehicles traveling at an astronomical 172 km/h on Castle Oaks Crossing. Perimeter fencing at our local schools has been struck by out-of-control vehicles multiple times. Drivers run stop signs, speed through red lights, overtake into on coming traffic and park in live lanes of traffic daily.
The danger is well documented, consistent and highlighted by:
• On 2024-03-26 @ approx 1pm, a high school student driving high-speed lost control, spun multiple times, and crashed just a few houses from Castle Oaks PS and Sir Isaac Brock PS, (both elementary). Video of this horrific event were shown to MPP Hardeep Grewal on 2026-Feb-13.
• 2026-09-30 at approximately 5 pm, a violent two-vehicle collision occurred directly at the intersection of Castle Oaks Crossing and Clarkway Drive, leaving another vehicle flipped onto its side during the heavy afternoon school/commute window. The speed and impacts caused air bags to be deployed in both vehicles.
This is a high-density, multi-school community serving Castle Oaks Public School, Sir Isaac Brock Public School, and local secondary institutions. By ignoring 5 years of documented community warnings, the City of Brampton and the Province of Ontario are demonstrating gross negligence and ignoring a foreseeable risk to human life. This negligence is exacerbated by traffic calming being installed in surrounding areas but not where it is needed most.
We will no longer accept bureaucratic delays. We demand immediate, concrete remediation through these 4 non-negotiable measures, comparable to other communities:
1. A Continuous, Uniform 40 km/h Speed Limit on Castle Oaks Crossing stretching from Highway 50 to The Gore Road.
2. Uniform Parking Designation with bike lanes and Strict Enforcement on Castle Oaks Crossing stretching from Highway 50 to The Gore Road to eliminate dangerous blind spots during school pick-up/drop-off hours.
3. The Reclassification and Remediation of Clarkway Drive (south of Castlemore). It is an inner-community roadway—not a high-speed arterial bypass. It requires immediate physical traffic calming infrastructure.
4. Permanent Structural Safeguards, including reinforced steel barriers at vulnerable school perimeters and walking paths to protect pedestrian students from vehicles.
By signing this petition, you are demanding that our elected officials deploy municipal road crews immediately.
