🚨 Petition for Installation of a Traffic Light at Love’s Truck Stop – Newton, NC 🚨

To: North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), Catawba County Officials, and the City of Newton

We, the undersigned residents, drivers, and concerned citizens of Newton and the surrounding areas, urgently call for the installation of a traffic signal at the entrance/exit of the Love’s Truck Stop located off US Highway 321 in Newton, North Carolina.

🛑 The Problem:

This location has become a dangerous hotspot for traffic accidents, particularly involving semi-trucks, who regularly disregard oncoming traffic and will pull out in front of cars at a-too close-for-comfort distance, local commuters, and travelers. Due to high traffic volume, inadequate traffic control, and limited visibility, collisions and near-misses are occurring far too frequently — putting lives at risk every single day.

🚨 Community Impact:

 • Multiple accidents have already been reported.

 • Residents and local businesses have expressed growing concern and outrage.

 • Emergency response is regularly required due to the severity of crashes.

 • Nearby families, school buses, and daily commuters fear for their safety.

✅ What We’re Asking:

We respectfully demand that the NCDOT conduct an immediate traffic study and install a stoplight or appropriate traffic control device at this location. Preventative action must be taken before more lives are lost or permanently changed due to a preventable tragedy.
