Every year there is a tiny window in which meatless eaters scurry to Trader Joe’s in hopes of being one of the lucky few to secure a coveted turkey-less vegan roast. The rest of us are left to purchase this delectable treat at a marked up price via vegan boards or CL. Some perhaps are loved enough to get one from a kind friend, who thought of us, while obtaining theirs. Calls of desperation answered by the TJ’s associate unlucky enough to be on phone duty consist of every emotion you might think of at the loss, the regret that we have not won in the game of roast. Inevitably they have no explanation for why they are given such a low stock and why it’s not offered year round?!

The even bigger loss, you ask? Well of course it‘s the animals! A University of Cambridge study has found that if given the choice of a vegetarian option, it was chosen up to 62% of the time over an animal product. Let’s get some lives saved TJ’s! 

In conclusion, we must end this now! No longer will the people tolerate a lack of what is considered to be THE vegan/meat free roast of the season. Clearly the popularity of the roast has surpassed itself as a “seasonal” item. Celebrations are year round and this delicious and cruelty free option should be inclusive of the diverse population who consume it. Eaten as soon as it’s purchased rather than squirreled away in mass quantities for a later date. 

Trader Joe’s, answer the call to glory, please offer THE roast year round, and increase stock around the holidays!
