Less Plastic at Trader Joe's

If we want to live in a world without plastic oceans, why do we keep buying plastic and throwing it away?
Over the years I have come to rely on Trader Joe's as an alternative to mainstream grocery stores, consistently providing healthier and more interesting food choices and a plentiful supply of organic items.
But some days, I stand in the aisles and think, "I'm buying almost as much trash as I am food."
Personally, I could eat around plastic more intentionally, purchasing whole vegetables, finding a butcher who still uses paper, and doing my own gourmet, international cooking. But I like everything else about Trader Joe's, and I would like to see more corporate-level commitment to solving the problem of plastic waste.
Trader Joe's, will you please take a stand on the disaster of plastic? Will you make an effort to package products in more biodegradable or recyclable packaging? Will you support and champion emerging waste-free packaging technologies? Will you please be part of the solution?
