Trademe allowing the sales of litters of puppies hugely supports the problem of back yard breeders, puppy mills, and irresponsible breeding. 

These dogs are being bred purely for money, with bitches often having back to back litters resulting in the rejection of pups from mum and causing huge behavioral problems for these puppies as they grow older. 

People are currently charging upwards of $4000 per puppy on trademe, yet you can get purebred, registered, ethical, pups from Dogz NZ registered breeders for $1000.

 

WHY do rescues have to APPLY through trademe in order to list the dogs for an adoption fee, yet BYB's can list their puppies for as much as they want?

 

SOLUTION IDEAS:

- Trademe can only list puppies if the people can provide their dogz nz registry number 

- Trademe can ask for proof of proper documents of DNA testing, hip scores, elbow scores etc before allowing listings to be published 

- Trademe requires proof of registration for dogs listed as "purebred"

- Trademe can limit the amount of listing people can post selling puppies to avoid back to back litters 

- Trademe requires proof of liniage before listing is published 

- Trademe can put a price cap on puppies being sold of $300, to sellers that cannot provide proof of ethical breeding. To prevent exploitation and money making
