We, the fans of The Quintessential Quintuplets (Go-Toubun no Hanayome), respectfully request the creation of canon alternate universe (AU) storylines with after-stories for each of the Nakano sisters: Ichika, Nino, Miku, Yotsuba, and Itsuki.

The original series was a masterclass in character writing. Each of the quintuplets were undeniably created with depth, charm, and emotional realism that allowed them to shine individually, despite being identical quintuplets. Fans all over the world connected deeply with the unique personalities and emotional journeys of each sister. Whether it was Miku’s quiet strength, Nino’s bold passion, Ichika’s complexity, Itsuki’s determination, or Yotsuba’s selfless enthusiasm, every fan inevitably saw a part of themselves in one of the girls.

However, the ending, despite being beautiful and true to its message, understandably left many fans  with a bittersweet and unresolved feeling. With such intense emotional investment in the quintuplets, it was hard for fans of the other sisters to see their stories conclude without a satisfying romantic resolution. This isn’t a flaw of the story, but a testament to how incredibly well-written and beloved each sister is to us fans.

We are not asking to rewrite the current ending. We are not asking to erase Yotsuba's reasonable role as Futaro’s romantic choice. Instead, we propose an expansion, a creative and respectful "What if?" project where each sister gets a canon alternate universe route, in which Futaro decides to pursue a different sister romantically in that universe. The universes would show the lives (the after-story) of Futaro and the different quintuplet together as a couple.

This approach has precedent. Popular series like Clannad, Amagami, and even the official Quintessential Quintuplets visual novel games have embraced alternate timelines or "route-style" storytelling to fully realize each heroine’s arc, with overwhelming fan support.

While the official Quintessential Quintuplets visual novels offer route-based endings where each quintuplet receives her own romantic path with Futaro, they don't deliver what many fans crave most- a true after story. These games beautifully capture the affectionate stage, but they don’t explore what comes next, which are the futures the girls once dreamed about, that us fans could get to see them chase alongside Futaro's loving support. A complete after story would allow these arcs to extend beyond the romance and provide the emotional closure that each character, and fan, deserves.

Why this matters commercially:

  1. Massive demand exists. There are fan forums, social media pages, Discord servers, and subreddits filled with passionate discussions and fanart for every sister.
  2. Visual novel sales, character merch, and Blu-ray box sets for each route would have immense appeal.
  3. Creating 5 canon “alternate world” after-stories enables the potential for 5x more content, 5x more merchandising, and potentially 5x the fan re-engagement

These alternate routes can be clearly marked as "AU" (Alternate Universe) while still being canon aspects of the series. This keeps the integrity of the original ending in place, while also celebrating the rich and individual character dynamics fans fell in love with.

This request is not made out of dissatisfaction, but from a place of deep love and appreciation. The emotional resonance of The Quintessential Quintuplets continues to grow years after the finale. Let's continue to explore the lives, both romantically with Futaro and as individuals with personal goals, of each one of these unforgettable, charming characters in new and meaningful ways through the use of AUs, while remaining true to the original ending.

Sincerely,

Michael Brenton and fans worldwide
