Close Towson's Campus for Coronavirus

Close Towson's Campus for Coronavirus
The Issue
Today I was instructed along with some of my fellow students to exit a classroom in the Center For The Arts, disinfect our belongings we were keeping in there, and wash our hands thoroughly. When we asked the faculty member about this, we were told that they could not explain any further. Another faculty member assured us that the room was "just being cleaned" but we noticed that the room was closed off, blinds drawn, and the cleaners inside the room were dressed completely in protective cleaning suits, gloves, and masks while using their cleaning supplies to disinfect the room next to ours. Since then, I have seen several emerging news articles exposing that 9 students and 1 faculty member from Towson are being self-quarantined currently after being free to attend classes for a week after coming back from a conference in which they were exposed to the virus. I am appalled that news sources and faculty were made privy to this information but Towson students are having to find out through news articles if at all. It is rather unacceptable that other universities are closing and going online for much less than this when Towson students have been potentially exposed to this virus on campus for the past week with no notice. This is a petition for Towson students, staff, and concerned community members to urge the university take action in informing the student community of Towson and move classes online. This is an unsafe time and this lack of care is putting so many students at risk, many who have low immune systems or are unhealthy or, like me, don't have access to health insurance and could have a deadly virus now due to a lack of care. Please sign.
