Keep the Rosseau Library in the Rosseau Memorial Community Hall!

This petition made change with 239 supporters!

The Rosseau Library has been at the Rosseau Memorial Community Hall since 1924. It has been at this location for 94 years! This site was the former Village of Rosseau Municipal Office. At the original library, the clerks for the Village of Rosseau checked out the books. These clerks include Charles Raymond and Emily Wood.

As a result of a major renovation of the hall, the Rosseau Library was the proud recipient of the  2007 Angus Mowat Award of Excellence. The library is at a central, easy to locate location in the Village of Rosseau. It currently is not accessible to persons with disabilities.

The Township of Seguin Council is proposing that the library be moved to Wellness Room (lower level) at the Ruth Dare Nursing Station.  However,  when the Wellness room was created it's main purpose was to provide a location for health related activities in the community of Rosseau. The Dare family made a large donation for the Ruth Dare Nursing Station. It is their wishes for the Wellness Room to continue to be used for health related activities.

By moving the library to the Wellness Room, access to health related activities may be limited in Rosseau. The Wellness Room should continue to be used for health related activities such as Yoga and other exercise classes.

The Township of Seguin will be holding a public meeting on May 2nd to discuss moving the library to the Wellness Room.

Please sign this petition asking Jack Hepworth, Rod Osbourne and Seguin Council  to keep the library at the Rosseau Memorial Community Hall! Also to keep the Wellness Room for health related activities.

Please help get the word out by sharing the link with your contacts, friends and family on Facebook and Twitter. :)

Thank you!
