New Bylaw to Combat Graffiti - 18 Years of age with photo ID required to buy Spray Paint.

The Issue

Your Local Community Petition to bring forward a  solution to help stop the spread of Graffiti in our local communities.

Require anyone who wants to purchase spray paint to show a valid ID proving they are 18 years of age.

Over the past few years, the rise of Graffiti and vandalism in our communities is on the rise. We are at a crossroads, a new look of graffiti all over our communities as a  standard we are willing to accept or come up with solutions that will help stop this.

One solution that Your Local Community has been doing is volunteering to clean up the Graffiti. But for every one removed, two more go up over the weekend.

Schools, bus benches, parks, fences, hydro boxes, businesses, street signs, and many more are being vandalized every day.

Another solution is to report graffiti to the city as you see it by calling it in. But again, this is not a solution to find a way to stop it.

We need a Bylaw to enforce and slow down the access to spray paint to minors.

Your Local Community has the support of Strata managers, Paint Stores, Hardware Stores, Local Business and citizens who all agree this will help deter teenagers from having easy access to purchasing spray paint and will be writing letters in support of this petition.

If this Petition can bring forward a change in the Bylaws then it will be up to parents, educators, and the community to remind the people vandalizing that this is not acceptable and will not be tolerated in our communities.

With this petition hopefully being turned into a Bylaw, the city cleaning up the graffiti along with Your Local Community volunteers we should be able to get this problem under control.

Please sign, and pass along, together we can make our communities the best they can be!

Thanks for the support!
