A Troubling Update

Old Elm StreetMansfield, MA, Estados Unidos

Dear Supporters,

Thank you for standing with us to preserve the integrity and character of our town.  We’re sharing a critical update (& reminder) about the situation surrounding the land Mansfield town had seemingly voted to support acquiring under their first right of refusal.

Despite multiple town commissions voting in favor of Mansfield purchasing this land, the owner has circumvented the process and sold it to the private institution, Al Noor Academy, to construct a facility resembling the scale of a small college campus. A public record indicates this sale was near $1.4 Million. This sale seemed to occur without the town adequately addressing the community’s concerns about how such a build would fit into a tight residential area. And, to our knowledge, the town has not provided any information on why they chose not to exercise their first right of refusal.

Adding to the community's unease, the landowner, Robert Saquet, has recently joined the town's Municipal Building Committee, raising questions about transparency and potential conflicts of interest. Many residents feel this development may indicate improper conduct and undermines trust in the process.

We urge everyone who values fair governance, proper planning, and preserving the character of our town to:

Please share this petition widely to amplify our voices.
Contact local officials to demand an investigation into the handling of this sale.
Attend town meetings to express your concerns and push for accountability.

As previously mentioned, a united and vigilant effort to ensure our town’s interests and rights are protected is needed. Thank you for your continued support in this critical effort.

Sincerely,

Old Elm Street
