PRESERVE INTEGRAL WETLANDS AND PROTECT THE RURAL CHARACTER OF WHITMAN, MA

PRESERVE INTEGRAL WETLANDS AND PROTECT THE RURAL CHARACTER OF WHITMAN, MA

The Issue

The intent of this petition is to bring awareness and request support from our fellow Whitman residents.

Please sign your name below if you are in favor of preserving wetlands and keeping the small town charm alive.

We respectfully wish to inform all Whitman, MA residents of a proposed minimum 22 unit 2 bedroom condo development to be constructed at 870 Temple Street.  This will be discussed at a zoning board meeting Monday, March 28th at 7pm.  Any in person support would be greatly appreciated.

This development will be constructed extremely close to wetlands and the surrounding neighborhoods on Sportsmans Trail and Joyce Terrace (within 50-100 feet)  Wetlands are a vital part of public and private drinking water supply, flood control, prevention of pollution, and protection of wildlife. With all the new construction happening in recent years the wildlife is running out of space.  Please help us voice your concerns on the lack of green space left in our quaint town by signing this petition.

"Wetlands are among the most productive
ecosystems in the world, comparable to rain
forests and coral reefs." - EPA Website

With the recent new housing developments comes increased pressure on our town infrastructures, emergency services, and overpopulation in our public schools.

We appreciate any support you can provide by signing the petition and helping us preserve valuable wetlands and what’s left of the character of our small town.  Thank you!
