Help lift ban on Black tennis instructor giving free lessons to low income youth!

The Issue

James Martin  is an black male tennis instructor  that provides free tennis lessons for underprivileged youth through his Tennis Development from the Heart program. Mr. Martin was banned from tennis courts  at Doty Park,a public recreational facility. This was against the wishes of Summerville,SC taxpayers, local community members, and associates.  By limiting court use and placing a ban on Mr. James Martin, minority and low income youth in the community lose a positive role model and access to a program that improves the community.

Current Complaints:

1. Vacant Tennis courts are not accessible to taxpayers.  These courts have reserved signs place on them. There have been several times where courts were deemed reserved and they weren't occupied.

2.  Free tennis instruction hours have been cut to 1 hour and 30 minutes once a week on Wednesdays.

We the Taxpayers, community members, and associates of Summerville, SC would like the following resolutions immediately:

1. Mr. Martin reinstated to his post as a Tennis instructor at Doty Park.

2. Reserved signs taken down from all courts

3. Free tennis instruction hours increased and continued during the school year; including instruction from James Martin.
